Tickets and reckless driving
A small ticket can throw a long shadow
Paying a ticket is pleading guilty to it. For most drivers that’s the end of it. For a commercial driver, a young driver, or someone already carrying points, it can be the start of something bigger.
Before you mail a check, it’s worth ten minutes to find out what the conviction would do to your record, your insurance and your license. Sometimes paying is the right call, and I’ll say so.

What I take on
Four tickets worth a second look
Speeding and moving violations
High speeds on the interstate, school and work zones, stop signs and lane changes, especially when points are adding up.
Reckless and careless driving
These are criminal charges, not just tickets. They can carry a court date, a record and a suspension.
Commercial drivers
A CDL holder can lose a living over violations that barely touch a regular license, even in a personal car.
Drivers who live out of state
A ticket on the way through, and a court date far from home. I can often appear for you so you don’t have to drive back.

Ask before you pay it
Send me a photo of the ticket. I’ll tell you what paying it would mean for you, and whether it’s worth fighting.
